One way to spot a fake person is to showcase one in the midst of reality
We had a prime example of this last week, utter shit in the midst of talented poetry
A long time ago I was asked not to name names when I wanted to spit a bit of negativity
So I'll stick within this web of words and paint my picture very clearly

Whoever was here last week knows exactly which person that I'm referring to
And those that weren't will surround me like a forest of owls... "Who?Who?"
It was the first person on after the break, ironically attempting to break through
She asked for intro music with canned applause, and a whole new level of mediocrity ensued

Now, on one hand it's cool to see someone making it with nothing but an ass and a smile
But on the other hand, it enrages me to see someone making with talent that can be described, at best, mild
And, when you drop that level of performer into the level I see here every Tuesday, I feel defiled
I may have never won anything at the Apollo, I suppose I don't have that kind of style

But I do have an ability to separate walking lies from poetic reality
And it will always piss me off to see true talent pushed aside for mediocrity
Gimel would tell me not to player hate, but I can't help it when the whole game doesn't appeal to me
If this is what my friends with mad talent are losing contracts against, it makes me truly angry

As Da Poetry Lounge is about the Truth, I figured I'd speak some tonight
What we witnessed last Tuesday cheapened this venue, and I can't just let it slide without a fight
I want to recognize Poetri, Rafi, Ashley, Tiffany, Omari, In-Q, Se-Qu, Shihan, Gimel, Bess Kept, Love Prophet, Dante, and others for being tight
And say to the ones that bring the fake shit up here, get the fuck out... Aiight!
