Mother's Day Poem
It's been 25 years and countless tears
Outnumbered only by smiles and chased-away fears
Mountains of coupons clipped followed by champagne sipped
Yards of fabric ripped and the many valets tipped
And still none of it compares to that of which I'm most aware
All the boundless love and care that we both have shared
I love you mom, beyond all refute, there's only one you, no substitute
You are my foundation, my great oak's root, and when I fall, my parachute
Without you there is no me, no end to depression, no reason to be
Every trapped smile, you've set free; every blind darkness, you helped me see
For that and everything else I could say, for all you've done that I can never repay
Because you're the only thing to which I'll ever pray
I just wanted to say, "I love you" this Mother's Day.
