Ego-etry

Why is Ego such a large part of most poet's flows?
We propigate the letter "I" into almost every line we sew
And then go on and on about how we were done wrong, smearing "I" around like day-glo
We stow away poetry with greater relevance for a chance to bestow
"I" want, "I" need, "I" love, "I" hurt, "I" know, and other "I"-related blow-by-blows
Are we really so caught up that we don't know we're writing at a level this low?
We don't all have to go and write poems about sunsets' glows and the questionable signifigance of afroes
But we should move beyond "I", take a look around, and from there, let the flow grow
Into something we all know has a greater signifigance inherently bestowed.
