Dancing on Words
I think that just an "I Miss You, Too" would do
I'm not asking for the dangerous three words "I Love You"
But, you think that it will hurt me less if you hurt me quickly
Keeping back even something you would say to a friend is a taste of cruelty
Though I know that you do it to protect my sanity, and I thank you for the thought
But, we weren't just lovers, we're also friends so the kindness you thought you gave was not
It's the second time you've hurt me with our mutual Dancing on Words
Withdrawing back into your walls and making sure that your heart is marked "Reserved"
Like a parking space or a dinner table... well, I'm sorry that I didn't call ahead
I came too late to be "Reserved" as well, now I need to be content with the scraps I'm fed
It makes sense as a Dingo is a dog, so I should expect to be treated like one
I get to guard your heart while the master's gone to earn at least one day carefree in your sun
And what a day it was, even though I'm only be able to see in black and white, you lent me Hue
Even though it was just a day, just as you are "just a person" I'll never forget when you lent You
I was hurt today, yes, but go ahead and kick me, I am a dog after all
I'll take the pain when you give it and still come running at your call.
